Media: Gauteng Broadcast Technical Overseer

Pretoria, Gauteng (Full Time)

The Gauteng Broadcast Technical Overseer is responsible for overseeing and maintaining all broadcast and media equipment across Pretoria and Johannesburg. This role involves ensuring the operational readiness of broadcast equipment for live events and services, performing basic repairs and maintenance, and coordinating specialized repairs through service providers. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in broadcast and media equipment management, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless event execution.

Key Responsibilities

Equipment Management

Oversee and maintain all broadcast and media equipment, including cameras, lighting, broadcast computers, LED screens, projectors, drones, communication systems, and link equipment.

Ensure the primary focus is on broadcast equipment, guaranteeing its optimal functionality and readiness.

Collaborate with other media departments to provide technical support, delegating tasks related to photography cameras, social media equipment, mobile filming, and other media-related equipment.

Operational Readiness

Ensure all broadcast equipment is fully operational and ready for use every Sunday for services and events.

Take responsibility for the functionality of equipment but not for operating it during live events.

Perform routine checks and troubleshooting on equipment, ensuring it meets operational standards.

Repairs & Maintenance

Perform basic repairs and routine maintenance on equipment when necessary.

Coordinate with external service providers for specialized repairs and maintenance on complex broadcast and media equipment.

Keep accurate records of all maintenance activities and equipment repairs.

Inventory & Administration

Manage the inventory of all broadcast and media equipment, ensuring it is tracked, documented, and accounted for.

Oversee equipment allocation, maintenance schedules, and service records, ensuring all equipment is in top condition when needed.

Maintain an up-to-date inventory list and ensure timely updates to equipment status.

Qualifications & Skills

Essential

Minimum of 3 years of experience in managing broadcast or media equipment, preferably in a live event or church production environment.

Solid technical understanding of broadcast systems, including cameras, lighting, sound, and communication systems.

Experience in basic equipment repairs and troubleshooting.

Excellent organizational and documentation skills for inventory and service records.

Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with various departments and external service providers.

Preferred

Experience working with media departments in live event settings, especially in a church or faith-based organization.

Familiarity with advanced broadcast equipment, including drones and LED screens.

Technical expertise in managing systems integration for broadcast, multimedia, and live event production.

Work Conditions & Expecatations

Must be based in Pretoria or Johannesburg, with regular travel between the two locations.

Flexible availability, including weekends, evenings, and event days.

Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines, particularly during live events.

Willingness to collaborate with other media teams and service providers to maintain operational readiness.
