ANNUAL WEEK OF
PRAYER AND FASTING
The year of Multiplication!
We believe we are moving into a season of multiplication, as did the early Church!
2025 will be a year of multiplication, but it will also be the beginning of a new season of extreme growth, fruitfulness and multiplication for CRC as a Move, for the Glory of God!
In the beginning God commanded us in Genesis chapter 1 to be fruitful and multiply! We take responsibility and we use what God has given us to multiply everything to expand God’s Kingdom!
Join us for the annual week of Prayer and Fasting as we set the foundation for the Year of Multiplication, making intentional time to hear from God and to get fresh vision for the year ahead!
Join us at CRC Bloemfontein, Pretoria and Johannesburg for our annual time of prayer and fasting.
Set aside time from 12-19 January 2025 as we seek the will of God in every area of our lives!
We will kick-off with prayer and fasting on Sunday, 12 January 2025. Join our evening sessions from Tuesday - Thursday at 18:30 at CRC BFN, PTA and JHB.
WHY DO WE PRAY AND FAST?
Prayer and fasting guidelines & tips
The purpose of fasting should be to take your eyes off the things of this world, and instead focus on God. It is a way to demonstrate to God, and to yourself, that you are serious about your relationship with Him. Fasting helps you to gain a new perspective and a renewed reliance upon God. We fast in faith, believing and trusting for breakthrough in a specific area of our lives.
As a precautionary measure, if you take medication or have a health condition, check with your doctor before beginning your first fast.
Determine in advance what kind of fast you will undertake, e.g., water only, water and juice, Daniel fast or total abstinence etc.
When drinking juice on a fast, non-sweetened and non-acidic juices seem best. Tomato and orange juice are hard on the stomach. Dilute to make easier.
Days two through four of the fast are often the most challenging. Keep strong!
Eat mainly raw foods and drink plenty of water for a few meals before you begin your fast. Decrease the size and frequency of meals.
You may need to restrict some of your physical activity during the fast, especially rigorous exercise.
If you drink lots of coffee, start cutting back before the fast to avoid headaches.
Water-and-juice fasts can help you accomplish the spiritual and physical purposes of the fast, while keeping energy.
Give specific time to pray. Fasting alone can be a diet – fasting and prayer brings God into the equation.
